Oceanside Transit Center Thirds Track Project

The work added a third track and platform to the Oceanside Transit Center on the LOSSAN Corridor, making it the first place in San Diego North County to triple-track a section of the 125-year-old railway. The third track and new 1,000-foot-long boarding platform helps prevent delays that occur while trains wait for space to board passengers. The work performed included:

  • Construction of new track with concrete and wood ties
  • Relaying existing track
  • Resurfacing of existing track
  • Removal of portions of existing track
  • Construction of a new turnout and new crossovers along with the removal and salvage of an existing turnout
  • Demolition of existing platform and plaza
  • Construction of a new platform

  • Reconstructing plaza and existing platform to new height
  • Construction of drainage pipes and associated structures
  • Trackbed preparation
  • New canopy structures
  • Landscaping and irrigation
  • Electrical and communications at the station

  • Signal bridge removal

  • Minor roadway improvements on Wisconsin Avenue
