North Area Waste Water Conveyance

Description: This $20M design-build project improved the wastewater conveyance system to convey raw sewage from an existing Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in the 43 Area to the Southern Regional Tertiary Treatment Plant (SRTTP) around 10 miles south. The project required the following:
- Decommissioning/demolition of the existing 0.30 MGD sewer treatment plant
- Construction of four (4) new Sewer Lift Stations (SLS)
- Installing 28,500 LF of new HDPE sewer force main varying in size from 8” to 20” diameter with approximately 4,000LF of Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)
- Replaced approximately 7,000 LF of gravity sewer pipe with 12” diameter HDPE and 23 new manholes using a combination of open trench and trenchless technologies (pipe bursting) in the 51 Area
- Demolished and replaced a SLS and 3,200 LF of 4” diameter sewer force main in the 63 Area
